Our anchorage at the north end of Isla Angel de La Guarda felt like it was a well earned destination. We had a bumpy ride up Canal de Ballenas due to some exciting rip tides and were excited for a peaceful night. At first impression, we were struck by the beauty of the island with its striking colors.

With many beaches in a variety of composition we enjoyed wandering around and collecting shells and studying the interesting stones and rock formations.
Spring is in full flight here. Nesting birds line the shores. Small sting rays are in the shallows. Dolphins circle the boat as they fish on schools of yellowtail tuna. Hundreds of sea lions bark from the shores. Playful curious seals follow us in the dingy. Osprey nests tower over the points. It is a wild place.

There are several other boats here now that are also headed to our same destination. We've enjoyed meeting them, sharing meals and wandering the shores together. It has been a leisurely week for us. We've done about all the planning we can do for our busy time ahead ashore. The only thing we can do now is eat the food that is remaining on the boat so that we have less to store and move when we get to Puerto Penasco.

As I write, we have 20-25 knots of wind, mostly cloudy skies, and a small chop in the bay. We expect these conditions for the next 48 hours. The good news is that the bugs have retreated and are less annoying. When the weather is like this we like to have a movie marathon and take care of more 'inside' projects. Next week will be a flurry I'm sure, so for now, we'll savor 'doing nothing'. Onward.
