Its hard to believe we brought Okisollo to Mexico 17 months ago, back in October 2023. While we flew in and out several times, we found ourselves here for 12 of those months. We've covered a lot of coast line, passing all 7,338 kilometers of Mexico's western/Pacific shores. We've logged 2300 nautical miles (NM).

We've had at least 1532 tacos. So you could say we've had an average consumption rate of 1.5 tacos per nautical mile.

This week we've been stocking up on some of our favorite things at Walmart that we know will be harder to get outside of Mexico. We had a trip into the local city of Tapachula. We have one more trip planned for next week before we go in which we hope to see some of the local sights.

There are all the conveniences big malls, large grocery store chains and big markets. But being close to the southern border of Mexico we also observed a heavy military presence. This is not a tourist town. We took care of the business that we had in the city and retreated back to the solitude of the marina.

The marina is interesting as there are only a few 'permanent' residents. This week, 4 boats left, and 6 more arrived. Half headed north, half headed south. In the evenings we sit by the pool together and discuss ports with others and determine where we'll be seeing each other again. We learn about the customs and immigration procedures for the ports that are ahead of us. Its too hot for us to do much work on the boat -- unless we get up early at 5:30 and work until 9 am. The temperature is averaging 95 in the day and 75 at night. Humidity is usually around 65%. The sun is intense. Siesta is a necessity. You just can't really be outside mid-day. We are using the time to plan our next routes and make plans for Costa Rica and Panama, as well as our plans for our spring & fall visits back to the US.

For now, we'll leave you with our list of favorites from our time in Mexico. Its a beautiful and vast country. The people we've met along the way both the locals and our fellow sailors have made the experience amazing and we'll be sad to leave. And yet, we are excited for what comes next.

Not all tacos are the same. You guys should write a taco cookbook complete with pictures of the taco, ingredients, and a dot on the world map where you ate that particular taco. Happy trails to you.
