OK. I get it. Most of you that read this will be highly annoyed by the fact that even when living in a beautiful place with sunshine to learn that we were desperate a vacation. We've lived together in a really small space for almost a year now and you could say we were getting a little bit cooped up.
We're probably past the 'honeymoon' phase of our 'retirement' and are considering our plans for the next 12-36 months.
Some of our family that was supposed to come unfortunately had to cancel at the last minute which was very disappointing (Boeing Max 737 issue). :-(
I've had to spend more time than I like this month talking to our health insurance company. It will get resolved....eventually.
Our attitudes needed a bit of an adjustment. And we were overdue for a change of scenery.
So, even though Dan's family didn't join us, we were fortunate to be able to stay shoreside ANYWAY! And with a rental car -- the freedom to explore from the road for awhile. We switched our beautiful uninhabited beaches for a crowded pool.
I enjoyed a a long soak in the tub instead of fast 2 min shower. We meandered through quiet gardens and interesting homes in the Nopolo neighborhood south of Loreto.
We enjoyed fine food and baguettes from the french restaurant that was around the corner from our casita.
We watched some good movies and did at least 10 loads of laundry. The cat loved being able to wander about on land and see some land-birds for a change. The door at the house was a little broken and the cat quickly learned how to swat the broken part of the door so that it made a huge bang when she wanted to go outside. It was great except when it happened at 3 AM. She was one happy kitty!
And we just took a break from the boat -- of course we still talked about boating at every opportunity!
Its amazing how such a small break in the 'usual' can refresh your mind, give you a new outlook and get you excited about heading to whatever is next. Now back on the boat we both have a bit more energy, we have lots of clean clothes and we have a pretty good plan for the next 6 months and into next year. The cat perhaps is less thrilled, but I'm sure she'll just take a nap and get over it. Tomorrow we head out for a quick 24 hour trip to rainy LA to get our Visa's renewed....Then we'll be back in the sun! Ready to head out on the next voyage.
Wishing for a quick spring to all, wherever you may be!
Dan and Jeannie,
Love the pictures and summary of taking a break from being on yacht. Enjoy the rest and comfort of being on shore.
Karin and I have been in Sarasota since September, returning back to Chelan mid April.
Nice to play pickleball and bike ride in n 70 degree weather. Sometimes I miss
The cold and snow but only for a couple of days.
We wish you both well.
